5 Steps to Diagnosis

Step 1: Call or email us to arrange a free consultation. During the consultation one of our Clinical Psychologists will ask you to describe your current concerns and will answer any questions you have about the assessment process and the likely cost of an assessment.

Step 2: Complete and return screening questionnaires and forward copies of any other information relevant and helpful for the assessment process. This might include; an up to date school report, a recent clinic letter from your Paediatrician, Consultant or GP and any Speech and Language or Occupational Therapy reports.

Step 3: Once we have received payment, we will agree a convenient time for your appointments.

Step 4: Complete assessments. The results from each are then discussed in a multidisciplinary formulation meeting to see if there is enough evidence for a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder to be made. Autism Assessment UK uses the criteria for diagnosis set out in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5).

Step 5: Receive full verbal feedback of the outcome of your assessment, followed up with a comprehensive report and recommendations for support.
